Maractus Deck [Fusion Strike]

Overview

Maractus has two attacks and the first attack can be ignored since this attack's damage is too weak to use. On the other hand, Maractus second attack, Ditch and Shake has a potential to OHKO your opponent's VMAX Pokemon. This attack does 50 damage times no of Pokemon Tools which your discarded from your hand. In addition, you only need 1 Grass Energy and 1 Colorless Energy to use this attack.

In order to OHKO any of your opponent's VMAX Pokemon, you need 7 Pokemon Tools in your hand and discard those cards by using Maractus Ditch and Shake attack. Getting 7 Pokemon Tools cards in your hand is very difficult for current Standard Format since there are not many effective cards that can find Pokemon Tools. However, you can easily 2HKO your opponent's VMAX Pokemon with Maracus attack since discarding 3 or 4 Pokemon Tools from your hand is quite a easy thing to do.

Although your opponent's can definitely OHKO Maractus, it can be considered very fast and strong attacker since it is a Basic Pokemon and its attack requires only 2 Energy to use.

Additional Attacker

In the late game, there will be a lot of Pokemon Tools in your discard pile because of Maractus attack. So, you can't use Maractus anymore since there will be not much Pokemon Tool left in your deck. Thus, you definitely need another attacker in your deck.

Garbodor attack, Trash Cyclone is perfect for Maractus attack, Ditch and Shake. Trash Cyclone does 30 damage times no of Pokemon Tools in your discard pile and shuffle those cards into your deck. If you have around 10 Pokemon Tools in your discard pile, you can start using Garbodor attack, Trash Cyclone and deal 300 damage. After that, you can switch it with Maractus during your next turn because Pokemon Tool are recylced back into your deck.

By the way, Garbodor attack, Trash Cyclone requires 2 Colorless Energy so you can also attach 2 Grass Energy and don't need to add extra type of Energy in your deck.

Energy Setup

Cherrim Ability, Spring Bloom allows you to attach a Grass Energy from your hand to1 of your Pokemon without Rule Box as often as you like. So, the effect can be used to accelerate Energy for both Maractus and Garbodor.

You can also use Raihan to accelerate 1 Basic Grass Energy from your discard pile to 1 of your Pokemon after your Pokemon was knocked out during your opponent's last turn. In addition, Raihan let you search 1 card from your deck and you can use this effect to find 1 Grass Energy from your deck and attach it manually to your attacker.

Pokemon Tools

There are many options for you us to choose different kinds of Pokemon Tools for this deck. Among them, Exp. Share, Air Balloon and Lucky Egg works very well with this deck. Of course, this doesn't mean that other Pokemon Tools are not good for this deck. You can add any Pokemon Tools depending on your style of playing.

With Exp. Share, you only need to attach 1 Energy for your next attacking Pokemon since this Pokemon Tool let you move 1 Basic Energy from your Active Pokemon after it is knocked out from your opponent's Pokemon attack.

You might need to switch Cheribu or Trubbish if it is become your Active Pokemon either because your opponent use Boss's Order or your hand starts with these Pokemon. So, Air Balloon can equip to these Pokemon for free retreat.

If your hand is left with very few cards, you can equip your attacking Pokemon with Lucky Egg. This Pokemon Tool will let you draw cards until you have 7 cards in your hand.
